Pink Opal

Featured Cab of the Month
                September 1999

Currently Not Available

The cabochons pictured at right are cut from a common opal/silica found near Ica, Peru. This material tests as common opal but is sometimes sold as Pink Silica. The color ranges from a delicate pink coral to a deep Rhodochrosite pink. This type of rock also contains black inclusions, dentrites and areas of white opal. It is much harder than most opal and tough enough to be used extensively in Peruvian carvings. The Gem Shop, Inc. has this beautiful stone available in rough, specimens, beads and cabochons.     Back
